About the role:
Mercor is recruiting UK-based Accounting Specialists with ASC 606 revenue recognition experience for a research project with a leading frontier AI lab. You’ll help create, review, and evaluate high-quality accounting scenarios—leveraging your expertise in technical accounting, audit, and financial reporting to train next-generation AI systems.
What you will do:
- Analyze complex accounting scenarios involving customer contracts, performance obligations, and revenue timing
- Review and evaluate revenue policies, financial statements, and contract terms
- Apply ASC 606 guidance to identify technical accounting issues and explain conclusions clearly
- Contribute high-quality training data for frontier AI systems
What you need:
- Hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Strong background in revenue recognition, technical accounting, audit, accounting advisory, or financial reporting
- Experience interpreting accounting guidance and applying technical judgment in real-world contexts
- UK-based with the right to work in the United Kingdom
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week
Preferred (not required):
Experience at one or more of the following firms:
- Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG (Big 4)
- BDO, Grant Thornton, Forvis Mazars, RSM
- Crowe, Evelyn Partners
- Or another leading accounting, audit, or advisory firm
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Contract review and revenue policy assessment
- Identifying performance obligations
- Variable consideration and transaction price allocation
- Principal vs. agent considerations
- Revenue timing and recognition criteria
- Audit or advisory work involving complex revenue arrangements
- Financial reporting and technical accounting memos
